Latvia to put several Russian celebs on black list
Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs said the names would be disclosed soon
RIGA, July 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Latvia will include several Russian cultural figures into a black list over the situation in Ukraine, the country’s Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs said in an interview on Latvian radio.
These people were well known in Latvia, he added, promising the list would be disclosed in a couple of hours. If the people in question were in Latvia, they would have to leave the country, the minister said, but added “there will certainly be no arrest shows with the police involved”.
Local media reported earlier some Russian celebrities planning to participate in ‘New Wave’ youth singing contest could later find themselves on the non grata list. According to Rinkēvičs, the festival staged in the resort of Jurmala would be inappropriate this year amid the Ukraine crisis. The country’s Minister of Culture Dace Melbarde expressed the same opinion.
The 13th ‘New Wave’ music contest is to be held in Dzintari concert hall on July 22-27.
