UN calls tragedy Boeing crash on Russian-Ukrainian border
Diplomats do not rule out that the meeting of the Security Council may be convened today
THE United Nations, July 17. /ITAR-TASS /. The secretariat of the UN plane has called the Malaysian Airlines crash tragedy in Ukraine.
As the Deputy Secretary General Spokesman Farhan Haq said the UN does not have detailed information about the accident.
"We have seen reports of a plane crash Malaysian Airlines near the Russian-Ukrainian border. We do not have more information on this subject currently. This is the tragedy and all our thoughts are with the fate of the passengers, crew and their families," he said.
"This is awful. Course, I still do not know anything about this accident," Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said. According to him, Security Council members have not discussed the accident. Meanwhile, diplomats do not rule out that the meeting of the Security Council may be convened today.
Boeing 777 passenger airplane of Malaysia Airlines crashed on the territory of Ukraine in 60 km from the Russian border. According to Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise, there were 280 passengers and 15 crewmembers on board and all of them are believed to be dead.
