LUHANSK, July 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian military Wednesday launched an artillery attack on the city of Luhansk, the capital of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Luhansk (LPR) and a battleground of the fiercest clashes between its militiamen and Ukraine’s regular army in recent days.
Eyewitnesses said the shells landed on houses in the Kamennobrodsky and Artemovsky districts and in the area of the bus station. Sirens of ambulances are heard although no information about fatalities was available at the time of reporting.
Earlier on Wednesday, a sabotage group of the Ukrainian army opened mortar fire on the area where the Zarya (Dawn) battalion [the LPR militia] was allegedly stationed but the shells hit the trolleybus depot.
