Russian border guards called ambulance for wounded Ukrainian servicemen

ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Two Ukrainian border guards were taken to hospital with heavy wounds in Russia’s southern Rostov region, chief press officer of the Rostov regional border department of the Federal Security Service Vasily Malayev told ITAR-TASS on Wednesday.

“Information about two heavily wounded Ukrainian border guards came at 2pm Moscow time (11am BST) on Wednesday to Russian border checkpoint Kuibyshevo. Russian border guards called ambulance for wounded Ukrainian servicemen,” Malayev said. Medics have urgently brought wounded border guards to the Kuibyshevo district hospital.

One Ukrainian border guard has a stomach injury and the other one presumably a fragmentation wound and both are being operated on, Vasily Malayev, spokesperson for the Rostov regional office of the Federal Security Service (FSB), told ITAR-TASS.

The border guards were taken to a hospital from the border crossing point Kuibyshevo on the border between Russia and Ukraine.

“They said they had been injured during a fight with militiamen. One got injured in the stomach, the other one has numerous burns and presumably a fragmentation wound,” Malayev said.

Both men are at the local hospital in Kuibyshevo now.
