UNITED NATIONS, July 14. /ITAR-TASS/. The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution aimed at improving the humanitarian situation in Syria. The document was supported by all 15 Security Council members, including Russia.
The resolution allows U.N. humanitarian agencies to make direct relief supplies to war-torn regions of Syria from neighboring countries bypassing Damascus. However the Syrian authorities have to be notified of the cargoes going to their country.
The Security Council has also set up a special monitoring mission that will watch the loading of relief supplies to confirm their humanitarian nature. It will operate for 180 days.
