Lavrov, Burkhalter call for OSCE participation in resolving hostage problem in Ukraine
Lavrov and Burkhalter insisted on establishing an immediate and unconditional truce and starting an inclusive and transparent dialogue with the participation of all Ukrainian regions
MOSCOW, July 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Swiss President Didier Burkhalter have agreed to take urgent measures for implementing the agreements on de-escalation in Ukraine in compliance with the Geneva statement of April 14 and the Berlin declaration of July 2.
In a telephone talk on Monday, Lavrov and Burkhalter insisted on establishing an immediate and unconditional truce and starting an inclusive and transparent dialogue with the participation of all Ukrainian regions.
Lavrov and Burkhalter also agreed to involve the OSCE for working out practical ways aimed at resolving the hostage issue.
During the talk, they discussed steps towards implementing Russia’s new initiatives, put forth at the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Rio de Janeiro on July 13. The initiatives are aimed at de-escalating the situation in Ukraine’s southeast and creating conditions for ceasing fire.
