TEL-AVIV, July 11. /ITAR-TASS/. The Palestinian radicals from the Gaza Strip have fired more than 550 rockets on Israel over four days of the military operation Protective Edge in the Palestinian enclave, the press service of the Israeli army reported.
According to the report, 119 of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defence system. According to local media reports, about 100 rockets have been fired on Israeli cities over the past day alone.
There was a massive volley of rocket fire on cities in the southern and central part of Israel from Gaza on Friday morning. Two rockets were fired on the city of Ashdod. The Jewish State Army’s press service reported that one of the rockets was intercepted by the Iron Dome system. The second rocket hit a filling station, putting it on fire. According to the state radio reports, one Israeli citizen was severely injured in the rocket fire and was taken to hospital. Two more people got minor injuries.
The cities of Haifa, Hadera and Zichron Ya'akov located at a distance of 100 to 125 kilometres from the border with the Gaza Strip were also shelled during the night. The Palestinian movement HAMAS claimed responsibility for the attack.
Over the past four days, Israel’s business capital Tel-Aviv with a population of 400 thousand has been six times attacked by rocket fire from Gaza. Rockets have fallen twice in Jerusalem with a population of 800 thousand. On Wednesday and Thursday, radicals from Gaza fired rockets towards the Israeli nuclear complex in Dimona. There have been no reports about casualties caused by these attacks.
