One dead, five wounded as Ukrainian armed forces open fire on Luhansk

LUHANSK, July 11. /ITAR-TASS/. One person was killed and five people were wounded over the past 24 hours as Ukrainian government forces opened fire on Luhansk , the press service of the Luhansk city council said.
The worst situation was in the district of Shevchenko (the city's southeastern part not far from the center) and streets in the Kamennobrodsky district (the north), from where reports came about clashes with use of artillery and firearms. A bullet hit a window of the regional council office, according to the the press service.
Windows were broken in many residential houses, and facades were damaged. Gunfire has also damaged infrastructure facilities, electricity lines and gas pipelines. However, repair works have been started.
The press center of the Ukrainian government forces reported on Friday that Kiev-controlled military units lost three in dead and 12 in wounded in fighting in eastern Ukraine over the past 24 hours.
Seven servicemen were wounded, two of them receiving severe injuries, by mortar fire in the area of the village of Dyakovo in the Luhansk region. Militiamen of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic also opened mortar fire at the Ukrainian military's positions near the villages of Staraya Krasnyanka, Luhansk region, and Marinovka, Donetsk region.
