VIENNA, July 09. /ITAR-TASS/. Six world powers are “united” on Iran, Michael Mann, the spokesperson for European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, said on Wednesday, July 9.

He told Reuters that the group of six countries “has been united and is still united”.

The statement followed French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius’ remarks on Tuesday, July 8, that there were disagreements between Russia and other members of the P5+1 (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) over Iran.

The current round of talks between Iran and the P5+1, with the participation of Ashton, began in Vienna on July 2.

Mann said, “We are working very hard, we are working on drafting the text. But there are still obvious, serious gaps to close and we are determined to work hard to try and close those gaps.”

The Iranian negotiators are hoping to come to the final agreement before July 20 and resolve by that time all existing disagreements, including uranium enrichment restrictions for the duration of the implementation period insisted upon by the United States.
