Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei says Tehran has always been ready to show that the Iranian nuclear program is peaceful in its nature

MOSCOW, July 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Tehran hopes to reach the final agreement with the P5+1 group (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) before July 20 and is ready to resolve the remaining issues by that time, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei said.

“We hope the see the result before July 20. Iran is ready to resolve all issues and sign the agreement. I think the six world powers also bear great responsibility,” he told the Rossiya 24 TV channel on Tuesday, July 8.

The diplomat said that the sanctions against Iran “were unfair from the very beginning”. “Iran has a right to a non-military nuclear program. This is the red line for us, and it perfectly conforms to all international rules,” he said.

At the same time, Sanaei said if there were any questions or misunderstanding, Tehran “has always been ready to show that the Iranian nuclear program is peaceful in its nature”.

Earlier this week, the Iranian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi resumed consultations on a comprehensive agreement with the P5+1 group.

The Iranian news agency ISNA said on July 5 that Araghchi had met with Helga Schmid, Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs in the European External Action Service, and Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The Iranian negotiators are hoping to work out the final agreement before July 20 and resolve by that time all existing disagreements, including uranium enrichment restrictions for the duration of the implementation period insisted upon by the United States.

It was reported earlier that the Iran-P5+1 talks would resume at the expert level in Vienna on July 5-6.
