TEL AVIV, July 8. /ITAR-TASS/. Israel’s Logistics Corps has ordered to open the bomb shelters in Tel Aviv amid a threat of missile strikes from the Gaza Strip. According to an Israeli military source, “there is no doubt Hamas will attempt to attack Tel Aviv with missiles”.

It has added that Hamas is seeking escalation of the conflict and is able to launch missiles over a distance “of 40 km and even 80 km from the Gaza Strip”.

Earlier, Israel has corrected the routes of the inbound and outbound flights at the Ben Gurion international airport near Tel Aviv due to a missile threat from the Gaza Strip. Late on Monday, ahead of the start of the military raid in the Gaza Strip, the Logistics Corps ordered to open and prepare bomb shelters in major cities — Ashdod, Ashkelon and Beersheba in the south of Israel.

Attacks on Israeli cities

In the recent 48 hours, Palestinian radicals were attacking cities mostly in the south of Israel — Ashdod (22.6 km from the border with Gaza Strip), Beersheba (25.4 km from the border), both with up to 200 thousand residents, Ashkelon with 100 thousand residents (12.5 km from the border), as well as small towns and localities situated near the Palestinian enclave. There are nearly 85 km from the Gaza Strip to Tel Aviv downtown.
