The American delegation insists on drastic reduction of Iran’s uranium enrichment capacities

TEHRAN, July 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Iran will need 190,000 nuclear centrifuges in the future, whereas the United States wants to reduce their number to 10,000, local media reported with the reference to Iranian Spiritual Leader Ali Khamenei on Tuesday.

At the sixth round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 negotiating countries (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) on Iranian nuclear program the United States and Iran failed to make their positions closer on a key disputed issue over restriction of uranium enrichment program and the number of required nuclear centrifuges. The American delegation insists on drastic reduction of Iran’s uranium enrichment capacities, as the US is concerned that if Tehran violates its liabilities in peaceful atom use the country may acquire weapon-graded enriched uranium quicker than international experts and observers will fix this.

Iran disagreed strongly with Washington’s demands. The Iranian people have the right for uranium enrichment, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said.
