WASHINGTON, July 08. /ITAR-TASS/. The United States may terminate the financial and security support to Afghanistan, if any of the presidential candidates will try to seize power in the country illegally, US Secretary of State John Kerry said in a statement.

A former Finance Minister Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai won the elections according to preliminary data  and collected 56.44% of the vote, the Independent Election Commission announced on July 7. However, his rival former head of the Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah refused to recognize the results, pointing out to numerous violations during the elections, and warned that the country will create a "parallel government".

Experts believe that this could lead to a new civil war in Afghanistan. "Any action to take power by extra-legal means will cost Afghanistan the financial and security support of the United States and the international community, " Kerry said.
