Moldova bans Russia 24 TV news channel from broadcasting in its territory
Ukraine was the first to ban the Russian TV channel in April this year
MOSCOW, July 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Moldova’s TV and radio broadcast authorities have banned the Russia 24 TV news channel in Moldova until January 1, 2015, the TV channel reported on Friday.
According to Russia 24, Moldova’s Coordination Council for Television and Radio Broadcasts took the decision at its meeting on Friday for the reason that the channel’s programs were mismatching the principles of Moldova’s TV broadcasting code.
The Russian State Radio and Television Company has refrained from any comments as of yet.
In Moldova, Russia 24 was broadcast exclusively in cable networks.
Ukraine was the first to ban the Russian TV channel in April this year.
The Ukrainian National Television and Radio Broadcasting Company made providers stop broadcasting of Russian television channels Rossiya24, Channel One, RTR Planeta and NTV-Mir from 9 p.m. Moscow time (GMT+4) on March 11.
Such decision has been taken due to the need to ensure information security in compliance with a resolution by the National Security and Defense Council of March 1, 2014.
