Ukrainian border guards have allegedly fixed such facts before, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council says

KIEV, July 04./ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian military forces will down Russian helicopters if they transgress Ukrainian border, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Andriy Parubiy told a media briefing on Friday.

In his words, Ukrainian border guards have allegedly fixed such facts before.

“Ukraine warned that we will down them if they transgress the border again,” Parubiy noted.

The chief of the country’s National Security and Defense Council also stated that Ukraine had been making flights along the border with Russia and Belarus to find where and how many Russian military forces were stationed there and to determine how dangerous Ukrainian-Belarusian border control might be.

Ukrainian border guard authorities said on Thursday that Russian combat helicopters violated the country’s borders on several occasions after crossing into the Ukrainian air space on several occasions on the morning of July 3.

“At 8:20 a.m. three Russian helicopters violated the Ukrainian state border near the settlement of Belovodsk in the Luhansk Region, and at 9:20 a.m. three Russian helicopters entered the Ukrainian air space near the Dolzhansky border checkpoint also in the Luhansk Region,” the statement said.

Fierce military attacks of the pro-Kiev forces on the country’s southeastern regions resumed after Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko terminated ceasefire in the embattled regions, primarily in Donetsk and Luhansk.

Hundreds of people have been killed, buildings have been destroyed and tens of thousands have been forced to cross the border from Ukraine to Russia since April as a result of Kiev’s military operation against federalization supporters in Ukraine’s southeast involving armored vehicles, heavy artillery and attack aviation.
