Poroshenko reaffirms he is ready to resume ceasefire if all parties observe it
The president said he was ready to begin substantive political talks without preconditions
KIEV, July 03. /ITAR-TASS/. In a telephone conversation with US Vice President Joseph Biden, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko reaffirmed his readiness to resume the ceasefire if both sides pledge to observe it, the presidential press service said on Thursday, July 3.
“Petro Poroshenko said he was ready to return to the ceasefire regime as soon as he gets confirmation of its bilateral respect, all hostages are released and control of the border is established under OSCE monitoring,” the press service said.
The president said he was ready to begin substantive political talks without preconditions.
Poroshenko and Biden also discussed “possible further international efforts to support Ukraine’s position”.
The Ukrainian president informed the US vice president about the results of the meeting between the Ukrainian, German, French and Russian foreign ministers in Berlin and “outlined his vision for the next steps as a follow-up to the agreements reached”.
Biden, for his part, said the United States shared and supported the Ukrainian president’s approach to the settlement of the situation and was ready to exert efforts towards restoration of peace in Ukraine.
