KIEV, July 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko may resume the ceasefire in the east of the country, Valeriy Chalyi, deputy head of the presidential administration, said on Wednesday, July 2.

“The president has done everything possible to give a chance to those who want peace in the country. But unfortunately this call has so far not received a proper reaction. The ceasefire regime expired,” he said at a meeting with diplomats.

He stressed however that Poroshenko remained adherent to a peaceful settlement in the east of the country. “We are ready to continue consultations with the contact group in any acceptable place in order to find a solution,” Chalyi added.

The main condition for peace in the south-eastern regions of Ukraine is compliance with the terms stated in the European Council’s decision of June 27 — bilateral ceasefire, control of the border under the supervision of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), release of all hostages and commencement of substantive consultations without preconditions.

This is a second meeting between representatives of the presidential administration and the heads of diplomatic missions to inform them about the situation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
