MOSCOW, June 30. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia is indignant with Kiev’s actions against journalists from Russia working in dangerous conditions in Ukraine and requires stopping this pursuit and outrages and punish those guilty immediately, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Monday.

“A cruel and absolutely illegal manhunt after Russian journalists continues in Ukraine,” the ministry noted, adding that “Kiev military forces killed Russian TV Channel One cameraman Alexander Klyan in the city of Donetsk (east Ukraine) on June 30. A car with journalists from TV channel LifeNews came under gunfire near a military unit, but they luckily succeeded to save from shooting. Unidentified offenders also opened fire at filming crews of TV channels Mir 24 and REN TV.

“Demands by Russia and other representatives of international community to Ukrainian authorities to conduct unbiased investigations of all attacks on our journalists and other assaults on civilians in the conflict zone are not satisfied yet,” the Russian diplomatic agency said, noting that “We are indignant with Kiev’s actions against journalists from Russia working in dangerous conditions in Ukraine and demand stopping such pursuit and outrages and punish those guilty immediately. Finally, Ukraine should begin fulfilling its international commitments in the sphere of human rights and supremacy of law.

“Many representatives of Russian media outlets have recently fallen victims of Ukrainian unlawfulness. Attacks are delivered on our journalists amid President Petro Poroshenko’s numerous pledges that he was prepared to settle the situation in the southeast of the country and attain a ceasefire,” the country’s diplomatic agency noted, adding that “In fact, Ukrainian authorities are curbing any attempts to inform world community about the truth of current events by any ways, even through direct provocations threatening the life of Russian citizens.”

“Finally, Ukraine should begin fulfilling its international commitments in the sphere of human rights and supremacy of law,” the ministry noted.

“Now it is already obvious that journalists who are fulfilling their professional duty courageously are already in sight of Ukrainian military forces and ultranationalists,” the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, adding that “Kiev even does not stop to use such methods as a reprisal or a targeted gunfire at journalists and tortures banned by international law.
