On June 29 the summer residence of the French president - the Fort de Bregancon - opened for tourists. The fortification built in the XVII century has served as a presidential residence since Charles de Gaulle.
Although the president rarely visits the castle, its maintanance costs over €200,000 a year, according to the Parisien newspaper.
To visit the residence, you need to apply on the website of the tourist department of the near-by town Bormes-les-Mimosas and pay €10 for the ticket.
