Ukraine association deal: No one else a target, says Brussels chief

The deal's economic element will be signed on the sidelines of an EU summit in Brussels on June 27, Jose Manuel Barroso said

BRUSSELS, June 25. /ITAR-TASS/. The association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union seeks to deepen links between Kiev and Brussels, not to target others, the EU commission's head said on Wednesday.

Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso spoke to announce that economy and trade ministers from Russia, the European Union and Ukraine will gather in Brussels on July 11 for consultations on the new accord.

The deal's economic element will be signed on the sidelines of an EU summit in Brussels on June 27, Barroso said.

Discussions between the three parties will be chaired by EU Trade Commissioner Karel de Guht. Russia will be represented by Minister for Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev and Ukraine by Economy Minister Pavel Sheremet.
