VIENNA, June 24. /ITAR-TASS/. The situation with refugees streaming from war-torn Ukraine and accommodated at temporary centers in Russia is gradually stabilizing, Russia's Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov said on Tuesday.

“The situation is stabilizing but I wish the number of people [refugees] would not grow,” he said. “But this will depend on developments in Ukraine.”

Puchkov recalled that more than 400 temporary accommodation centers had been established in the European part of Russia.

“The government has allocated 240 million rubles [around $7 million] for these purposes,” he said. “More than 200 tonnes of food, medications and articles of daily necessity were provided today by the Russian Federal Agency for State Reserves.”

“All border regions also allocate material, technical and other resources, and provide financing,” he said, adding that the regions’ expenses would be partly reimbursed from the government’s Reserve Fund.
