Blast at Nigerian university claims lives of eight people

Another 12 people were wounded

PRETORIA, June 23. /ITAR-TASS/. At least eight people died and 12 were wounded as a result of an explosion at the university of the city of Kano, northern Nigeria, AFP news agency reported on Monday.

The explosion was allegedly staged by militants of the radical Islamist group Boko Haram.

Recently, the situation in Nigeria has seriously deteriorated. Thus, June 20, more than a hundred women and children sank attempting to run away from the sectarian violence in the Muslim village of Dampar (Taraba State) in the east of the country. A clash between the Muslims and Christians occurred in the locality, and part of its population attempted to hide from the violence by crossing a river on a small ship.

During the crossing, the ferryman was shot dead from the shore, the ship lost control and tipped over.
