MOSCOW, June 20, /ITAR-TASS/. The current political crisis in Ukraine must be resolved by peaceful means only, Sartaj Aziz, an advisor to the prime minister of Pakistan on national security and foreign affairs, told ITAR-TASS on Friday.

“The position we have been keeping on to is that all differences of this kind are to be settled by peaceful means, through a dialogue, since any military solution to the conflict could never be lasting and sustainable,” he stressed.

“We have been upholding this position on this situation even within the framework of the United Nations, where we prefer to abstain from voting at the Security Council.” Aziz expressed confidence that “the level of contact between the parties that are this or that way involved in the conflict in Ukraine should allow them to avoid the risks of direct military confrontation.
