The WikiLeaks founder has claimed he was tortured with electricity

LONDON, June 20. /ITAR-TASS/. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has claimed that he was illegally detained and tortured in one of the prisons of the UK before he got asylum in Ecuador’s embassy.

He said this to a news conference at the embassy of Ecuador in London.

Two years have passed since the leaker stepped on the territory of the diplomatic service.

According to Assange, he was held during “five days without charges in a horrible prison in the UK”. There, he was tortured, in particular, with electricity.

“My health was very poor then,” Assange said.

Threats to the family

At the news conference, the WikiLeaks founder also revealed that his mother and children were receiving anonymous threats. Some of his relatives were forced to change their names and move their homes.

As earlier reported by The Daily Mail, Assange has four children with different women. The eldest child is now 23 years old, and the youngest is three.

Assange stressed that he was not going to leave the Ecuadorian embassy since he could be extradited to the USA.
