Russia infroms WTO of US trade liabilities non-fulfilment over sanctions vs Russia
WTO's response to Russian-US row over sanctions will permit assessing unbiased and fair nature of the Dispute Settlement Body of this global organization
ST. PETERSBURG, June 20. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia has sent a communique to the World Trade Organization (WTO) over US non-fulfilment of the country’s trade liabilities against several Russian organizations, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting of the international law forum in the Russian northern capital on Friday.
“The United States has imposed sanctions against Russia entailing negative aftermath in foreign trade, we decided to challenge these sanctions in the WTO, though we understand that this will not be easy, because the United States enjoys a doctrinal and practical authority,” the prime minister noted.
WTO's response to Russian-US row over sanctions will permit assessing unbiased and fair nature of the Dispute Settlement Body of this global organization, Medvedev noted.
“These sanctions violate WTO rules, including most favorable nation trade regime, because suppliers of goods and services from another country are discriminated against, the direct ban of the second article of the WTO General Agreement on Trade in Services and WTO liabilities in trade with specific financial services are violated,” the prime minister said.
