MOSCOW, June 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia has submitted a revised draft resolution on Ukraine to the UN Security Council, Russia's high-ranking diplomat has said.

The document includes references that prove the Security Council's commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.

Russia calls on the UN Security Council members to support Russia’s draft resolution on Ukraine and prove the commitment to the resolution of the crisis, he said.

“Amid escalating the armed conflict and the serious humanitarian situation in Ukraine’s southeast Russia submitted the revised draft resolution on Ukraine to the UN Security Council on June 16. Our initiative is aimed at immediately terminating violence that lead to numerous losses of lives. Women, children and old men mostly affect the consequences of the conflict. The provisions of our draft resolution are related to political and humanitarian aspects,” Lukashevich said.

“We took into account the comments by many members of the UN Security Council. We made certain amendments to the activity of the OSCE, including references on the UN Security Council’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

“We stress the need to immediately terminate the armed actions and organise humanitarian corridors for the safe evacuation of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid,” he said.

Russia voices concern over Ukraine’s use of inhumane arms, including phosphorous bombs and unguided artillery shells. “The Ukrainian government bears major responsibility for security of the population,” Lukashevich said.

“We denounce illegal detentions of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission officials and journalists, who work in Ukraine. We support the implementation of the Geneva statement on Ukraine and the OSCE ‘roadmap’,” he said.

Russia expresses bewilderment over the West’s different attempts to hamper the work on the Russian draft resolution, Lukashevich said.

“The Russian draft resolution opens a possibility for launching the political resolution of the crisis in Ukraine through national dialogue and the constitutional reform,” he said.
