OSCE ambassador says the organization will maintain contacts with Ukrainian presidential envoy for conflict settlement in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions Irina Gerashchenko

ST PETERSBURG, June 18. /ITAR-TASS/. The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will work jointly with Russia and Ukraine to settle the crisis in the southeast of Ukraine, Swiss ambassador at large Luzius Wasesha has said.

The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Swiss President Didier Burkhalter has appointed his special representative for Ukraine, Washesha said at the 4th St Petersburg International Legal Forum on Wednesday.

Answering a question if the representative maintains contacts with Ukrainian presidential envoy for conflict settlement in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions Irina Gerashchenko, he said: “Of course.”

The same contacts will be maintained with Russian envoys, Wasesha said.

He did not rule out a possibility of conducting an investigation into the death of Russian journalists in the south-east of Ukraine.

“The OSCE is an intergovernmental organisation. This depends on the views of all member-states. If they decide the investigation is indispensable, it will be conducted,” Wasesha said.

Commenting on the tragedy in Odessa in early May, he said, “We had to wait for the results of the presidential elections.”

Now such report is necessary with the consensus by the OSCE member-states, Wasesha said.
