Ukrainian parliament registers resolutions on self-dissolution, termination of powers

Meanwhile, Ukrainian laws establish no self-dissolution procedures

KIEV, June 18. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian parliament has registered resolutions on its self-dissolution and early termination of powers.

As the parliament’s secretariat has said, Verkhovna Rada members Viktor Baloha and Ihor Rybakov have urged the seventh parliament to disband itself, although Ukrainian laws establish no self-dissolution procedures.

The leaders of three factions, UDAR, Svoboda and Batkivshchyna — Vitaliy Kovalchuk, Oleh Tyahnybok and Serhiy Sobolev, and independent lawmaker, have registered a draft resolution on early termination of Ukraine’s seventh parliament.

Earlier, President Petro Poroshenko said that he was waiting for the Verkhovna Rada’s decision to disband itself.

 

New appointments in the Ukrainian leadership

The Ukrainian president has introduced Vitaliy Yarema’s candidacy for general prosecutor to be voted in Ukraine’s parliament on Wednesday. Parliament has appointed Oleh Makhnitsky as acting general prosecutor in February. Then Yarema was named as the first deputy prime minister.

Poroshenko has also suggested to relieve parliament-appointed acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsia from the post of acting minister of foreign affairs and nominated Urkaine's Ambassador to Germany Pavlo Klimkin as candiddate for foreign minister. The president has introduced Klimkin’s candidacy for voting at Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada. The parliamentary secretariat has registered the resolution to this effect.
