BAKU, June 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia is sparing no effort at the United Nations Security Council to have a resolution in support of the OSCE roadmap on the settlement in Ukraine passed, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.

“We will do our utmost to enroll support to the roadmap of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) offered by the Swiss presidency, which is based on the Geneva communique agreed by Russia, the United States and the European Union with Ukraine’s participation. And we are sparing no effort to have a relevant resolution passed by the United Nations Security Council,” he said.

Ethnic cleansing scenarios are being considered against Ukraine’s embattled Southeast, where Kiev is conducting a punitive operation against federalization supporters, but President Petro Poroshenko should dismiss them, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday.

Lavrov said the recent death of Russian journalist Igor Kornelyuk in eastern Ukraine “is another serious signal to all those who hope for achievement of a military victory in the Southeast, for a mopping-up operation in the territory.”

This, he stressed, must serve as another “powerful signal to Western patrons of Kiev to stop reckless support of these violent actions and make the Kiev authorities do what President Poroshenko pledged: start a truly nationwide dialogue on the country’s future with participation of all regions”.
