Ukraine’s government forces open mortar fire on community near Luhansk

LUHANSK, June 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s government forces opened mortar fire on the Metallist community, located several kilometers from Luhansk, overnight to Monday, according to the press-service of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR). The spokesperson added there were no immediate reports of casualties.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian government forces and the people’s militia reportedly took positions on the banks of the river Seversky Donets.
The town of Shchastie, seized by Ukrainian government forces last Saturday, is still under the control of the National Guard.

“There were both civilians and people’s militia fighters among the casualties,” he said.
