KIEV, June 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko has pledged to open Kreshchatyk Street for motor traffic.

“I don’t intend to press Maidan activists to demand them the downtown city be freed from the barricades,” Klitschko told a news briefing on Friday. “This is the matter of agreements. People, who stay there, should decide,” he said.

However, he failed to specify when Kiev downtown would be opened for motor traffic. “I can’t say when Kreshchatyk Street will be opened. We’re discussing it now. I’m sure that motor traffic will be opened soon,” Klitschko said.

Earlier, he said Kreshchatyk Street should be freed for traffic.
