VORONEZH, June 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Voronezh region neighbouring on Ukraine’s southeast is ready to admit more refugees if the Ukrainian authorities open humanitarian corridors, a Federal Migration Service (FMS) official told ITAR-TASS on Wednesday.

Sergei Zhuravlyov, deputy head of the FMS’s regional department, said the region has already accommodated a group of more than 70 refugees who arrived in Voronezh on a bus on Tuesday. All refugees were accommodated in a recreation centre in the suburbs of Voronezh, where they will also get four meals a day. Besides, they have received free-of-charge SIM cards to be able to speak with their relatives in Ukraine. The local authorities take measures to find jobs for those who seek job placement.

At a session of the local government, region’s head Alexei Gordeyev noted that people arriving from Ukraine don’t ask for Russian citizenship, don’t ask for the refugee status, they just “need a temporary asylum and accommodation, and may stay at the recreation centre as long as it is needed”.
