LUHANSK, June 10. /ITAR-TASS/. The self-defense forces of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic on Tuesday blocked Ukraine’s National Guard units stationed at the Luhansk international airport, the republic’s spokesperson Vladimir Inogorodsky told ITAR-TASS.

“We confirm this information. Negotiations are currently underway,” Inogorodsky said refusing to comment on conditions put up by the parties.

The Luhansk International Airport stopped dispatching and receiving passenger and charter flights on June 3 because of the need to repair the runway, Vasily Tatarinov, the hub’s Director General, said.

Meanwhile, the Luhansk People’s Republic press service reported earlier that this decision was determined by the “growing activity of Ukrainian troops on the territory of Luhansk People’s Republic”.

The situation in Luhansk

June 7, representatives of the local people’s militia repelled an air attack on Luhansk.

“An air attack was carried out by using two drones and two combat planes. Air raid alert was announced. We opened fire, repelled the attack and the planes backed off. The planes came from the side of Kharkiv, from Chuguev, where they are basing. These were two Su-27 planes. The drones are still patrolling over here,” a source in Luhansk self-defense forces said.
