GENEVA, June 10. /ITAR-TASS/. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay has recognized the facts of encroachments on the humanitarian rights of the population by Ukrainian authorities. She qualified them as violations and demanded that the authorities in Kiev conduct an all-round human rights reform.

Pillay expressed hope the new government would resolve the problems in human rights and urged it to design a reform that would bring up responsibility of the violations committed.

In the wake of tragic events in the east and south of Ukraine, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights had to set up a mission for monitoring the situation in that country.

"In Ukraine, the UN response to the crisis stepped up as the situation deteriorated in February 2014. My Office swiftly deployed a human rights monitoring mission that has so far issued two reports, with concrete recommendations including guarantees for the implementation of minority rights. I hope that the new Government will address the human rights challenges in Ukraine, and I encourage it to devise a comprehensive human rights reform plan that includes accountability for violations," Navi Pillay said in a statement.

Navi Pillay made earlier two reports containing detailed recommendations and specifying the guarantees for the rights of minorities had been prepared.

A third report embracing a period from the beginning of May through the beginning of June will be released June 17.

The situation in Ukraine is one of the issues to be discussed by the UN Human Rights Council that will continue through to June 27.
