Head of Kiev municipal administration intends to resign
Vitali Klitschko, elected as Kiev mayor at snap elections May 25, suggested earlier integrating the posts of the city’s mayor and head of the municipal administration
KIEV, June 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Head of Kiev Municipal Administration Volodymyr Bondarenko stated about his intention to resign. He made this statement at a briefing, adding that a corresponding notification has been sent to the country’s President Petro Poroshenko.
“I have submitted an application to the President of Ukraine about my resignation. Now he will be able to decide whether my experience would be useful in further work,” Bondarenko said.
Volodymyr Bondarenko was appointed Head of Kiev Municipal Administration March 7, succeeding Volodymyr Makeyenko.
Vitali Klitschko, elected as Kiev mayor at snap elections May 25, suggested earlier integrating the posts of the city’s mayor and head of the municipal administration.
“The residents of Kiev vest the mayor with the authority to defend their rights, and he must have levers of power. However, it is impossible with the current powers. That is why we should return to combining the posts,” he stated May 20. Klitschko assured that this would contribute to carrying out “real reforms” in the Ukrainian capital.
