KIEV, June 07, /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine should become a united country where all views and all minorities will be respected, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy has said.

A new chance has emerged to ensure stability in Ukraine, Van Rompuy said on Saturday.

He attended the inauguration of Pyotr Poroshenko, who was sworn in as Ukraine’s president on June 7.

Poroshenko won a strong mandate for continuing reforms in order to build a civilised state, Van Rompuy said.

Stability and prosperity of Ukraine will benefit all its neighbours, he said.

The EU supports Ukraine and seeks to work with the countries that strive for democracy, stability and prosperity, Van Rompuy said.
