MOSCOW, June 05./ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesman has said Ukraine will be high priority of Russia’s presidency of the UN Security Council.

“This issue will be one of the priority ones during our presidency as the situation changes in Ukraine,” the ministry’s spokesman, Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.

He also has expressed indignation with the Ukrainian authorities' refusal to provide humanitarian aid to the country's south-east.

"Humanitarian aid to Ukraine's south-east is the priority task," the ministry's spokesman said.

"We are indignant with the Ukrainian authorities' refusal. Aid will be provided to peaceful civilians," he said.

Moscow calls on Kiev to avoid hindering departure of refugeed from Ukrainian territory. 

Russia is outraged by the position of parliament-appointed Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov, who is planning to close the border between Russia and Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

“This is absolutely outrageous and inadmissible,” he said.

Mosow urges punishment of those responsible for shelling regional administration building in Luhansk. There has been more evidence fighter bombers attacked regional administration in Luhansk, spokesman added.

Alexander Lukashevich emphasized that Western plans regarding Ukraine have nothing to do with peace settlement. “The West alleges that there are no humanitarian problems in the east of Ukraine,” he said. “This approach indicates the real intentions regarding Ukraine. And these plans have nothing to do with a peace settlement of the situation,” he added. 

 

Poroshenko's visit to Moscow

The Russian Foreign Ministry has no information of any possibility of Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko’s visit to Moscow, and this question should not be addressed to the Russian side, Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich said on Thursday.

Asked if there was a possibility Russian President Vladimir Putin and Poroshenko might meet in Normandy, the diplomat replied: “I believe that the position outlined by the Russian president stays unchanged. The most important thing is he is not going to shirk a dialogue and meetings that are quite possible there, alongside the scheduled ones.”

“We shall wait and see the further march of events,” he added.

Asked about the possibility of Poroshenko’s visit to Moscow, Lukashevich readdressed it to the Ukrainian president-elect.

“This is a question to be addressed to the Ukrainian president-elect, and not to the Russian side. I have heard nothing of it,” he added.
