Turchynov orders to look at imposing martial law in Donetsk, Luhansk regions

Earlier deputy parliament speaker said that the Verkhovna Rada would not consider imposing an emergency rule in any of the country’s regions

KIEV, June 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s parliament-appointed president and speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) Oleksandr Turchynov has ordered the country’s National Security and Defense Council to look at imposing a martial law in southeastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions, according to a decree posted on Turchinov’s website on Tuesday.

Earlier, on May 29, deputy parliament speaker Rusal Koshulinsky said that the Verkhovna Rada would not consider imposing an emergency rule or a martial law in any of the country’s regions “until there is a legitimate president in the country."
