Syria is electing its president on Tuesday. Among the candidates are two opposition representatives and incumbent head of state Bashar Assad. According to sociologists, more than 70% of Syria's electorate (some 11 million people) are ready to support him. Voting stations operate in all regions of the country except the northern province of Raqqah which is controlled by radical militants.
