BANGKOK, May 30. /ITAR-TASS/. The current military authorities of Thailand are getting ready to parry and contain a new wave of street protests. May 30, warnings have been set to the major part of the provinces saying that June 1, demonstrations and rallies against the military coup that occurred last week are possible in different localities of the kingdom. The country’s Interior Ministry reported this on Friday.

However, the main anti-military protests are expected to take place in Bangkok instead of the provinces. The protesters have chosen the square near the Victory Monument in the historic area of the city. It is the place where few opponents of the military junta gathered in recent days. According to the main directorate of the National Police of Thailand, May 29, over a thousand of servicemen and police officers have been deployed near the Victory Monument to prevent the rally. All roads around it have been temporarily blocked.

Deputy Head of the national police Somyot Poompanmoung told journalists that law enforcement forces were able to send any number of officers to any location in Bangkok where rallies would be planned. The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) that assumed all power in the country after the military coup has warned the protesters against further rallies. NCPO has warned that they reserve the right to use tear gas to disperse unauthorized demonstrations. “It is vital to understand that the situation in the country cannot be called normal. Strict measures are being taken to preserve peace and order. Let me point out that all political gatherings involving over five people are currently banned,” Army Deputy Spokesman Winthai Suvaree stated.
