KIEV, May 29. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s newly elected president may be sworn into office on June 2 or 3, MP Serhiy Kaplin told a Ukrainian TV channel on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Ukraine’s parliament-appointed Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov signed a decree establishing an organizational committee for the inauguration of the new president. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry was commissioned to send invitations to the ceremony to foreign delegations. The committee includes officials from the presidential administration, lawmakers, representatives from Ukraine’s foreign and interior ministries and other government agencies.

The official date of the inauguration ceremony has not been set yet. Earlier, Mikhail Okhendovsky, Chairman of the Ukrainian Central Election Commission, said that Petro Poroshenko would pay his first international visit to Poland in early June in a capacity of either a presidential candidate or the president elect. According to media reports, Poroshenko’s visit to Poland will coincide with a visit of United States President Barack Obama. Analysts say that the two presidents are expected to meet in Warsaw on June 3.

Meanwhile, a source from Poroshenko’s election headquarters said that he could be officially sworn into office on June 8-10.

In line with the Ukrainian constitution, the president elect takes his oath of office within five days after the official announcement of the polling results, or when these results are published in the newspapers The Voice of Ukraine and Uryadovoi Kurier (Governmental Courier). The day when the Central Election Commission makes public the election results is not considered the day of the official announcement of voting results.
