How presidential elections are held in Ukraine
According to the electoral legislation, irrespective of how many people go to the polls, elections would be reckoned valid. Therefore, the voter turnout is of no importance. CEC preliminary data have it that voter turnout at Sunday's early presidential elections was 60.76%.
Under the provisions of the law, Ukraine's presidential election is held in two rounds. If in the first round one of candidates scores more than 50% of the vote, he is recognized as winner.
The CEC is to announce official results of the first round of elections not later than June 4.
