Vitali Klitschko leads at Kiev mayoral election with 56.52% of votes
To date, 67% of the ballots have been counted
KIEV, May 28. /ITAR-TASS/. Leader of the UDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform) Party Vitali Klitschko, who ran for mayor of Kiev, has scored 56.52% of votes after 67% of the ballots (from 729 polling stations out of 1,082) were counted. The Kiev territorial election committee reported this on Wednesday.
The nearest rival of Klitschko is Verkhovna Rada member Lesya Orobets with 8.52% of votes.
Meanwhile, votes casted at the election to Kiev’s city council consisting of 120 members are also being counted. After data from 689 polling stations has been processed, Klitschko’s UDAR Party has 39.38% of votes. Representatives of another seven political parties, including the Radical Party, Svoboda and Batkivschyna will also enter the city council.
