BERLIN, May 28. /ITAR-TASS/. The aim of Kiev's military operation in the south-east of Ukraine is seizure of people's militia leaders, newly elected Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko said in an interview with the Bild newspaper.

"We want to capture them and bring them to justice," he said.

According to Poroshenko  the "operation has finally started."

The chairman of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Supreme Council presidium Denis Pushilin said the death toll of the military operation in Donetsk may reach 100 people. According to preliminary reports, from 20 to 50 among them were civilians.  The active phase of the military operation started on Monday.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressed concern over the "clashes in Donetsk, which claimed dozens of lives" on Tuesday. "The Secretary-General urges the Kiev authorities to regain control in the south-east of Ukraine “solely by peaceful means”, his spokesman Stefan Dyuzharrik said commenting on Ukrainian authorities ultimatum to the militia and bombings near Donetsk.
