KIEV, May 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party demands early parliamentary elections in 2014, Serhiy Sobolev, leader of the Batkivshchyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada, said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The Batkivshchyna party and its parliamentary faction stand for early elections to the Verkhovna Rada this year,” the document said. “But our position is that these elections should be organized under a new election law envisaging elections solely under the proportional system on the basis of open party tickets.”
The current parliament, according to Sobolev, “does not correspond to the schedule of the country’s political map."
