MOSCOW, May 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill has called on Ukraine’s newly-elected President Petro Poroshenko to stop bloodshed in the country and heed the opinion of all its citizens.

“News coming from Ukraine is bringing new pain every day because people are dying and suffering. The country has submerged into discord and fratricidal war,” Patriarch Kirill stressed. "I hope that the bloodshed will end forever and that no one is going to be oppressed or humiliated and that each group of the population will be able to choose their life course, outlook and cultural preferences,” Patriarch Kirill said.

He expressed hope that the church life in Ukraine would proceed without any state or political interference and that decisions necessary for normalizing, improving and developing this life would be passed freely and unrestrictedly in the spirit of loyalty to the canonical rules.
