Syrian presidential elections will be held on June 3, but voting in foreign countries will begin on May 28

MOSCOW, May 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Syrian opposition proposes to delay presidential elections in the country, because most Syrians will not be able to participate in them, visiting member of the leadership of the Popular Front for Change and Liberation Qadri Jamil told a news conference in the Russian capital on Tuesday.

He noted that front representatives had held a meeting at the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday. Forthcoming presidential polls were also discussed.

“We urge to delay presidential elections. Most Syrians will not be able to participate in them,” Jamil said.

Meanwhile, the opposition representative noted that “We do not call for boycotting them.”

The Syrian opposition delegation will continue talks at the Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, Qadri Jamil said. Negotiators will discuss the scope of practical issues, including a proposal to hold talks in Geneva and to shape an opposition delegation for these talks.

Syrian presidential elections will be held on June 3, but voting in foreign countries will begin on May 28.
