Thai authorities plan to lift curfew in resort area — Russian diplomat
According to the consulate’s estimates, about 40 thousand Russians are currently spending holidays in Thailand
BANGKOK, May 27. /ITAR-TASS/. The new military authorities of Thailand intend to lift the curfew in the resort area in the nearest time, Viktor Kriventsov, Russian Honorary Vice-Consul in Pattaya, told ITAR-TASS.
“The life in the resort area continues as usual. The only thing pointing to the occurred military coup is the curfew.”
“However, a well-informed source in law enforcement authorities has reported that the curfew in the resort area is likely to be lifted in the nearest days. There isn’t any need in it,” the diplomat said.
Viktor Kriventsov added that after the martial law was introduced in the country, the Russian consulate in Pattaya switched to a 24-hour working day.
“Each morning we are contacting local police authorities to make sure that no Russian has been detained for curfew violation,” the vice-consul says.
He also notes the extremely small number of requests from Russian citizens to the consulate in view of the changed situation in that country. According to the consulate’s estimates, about 40 thousand Russians are currently spending holidays in Thailand.
