Turchynov: Presidential elections were open and transparent
Parliament-appointed Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk also said the elections were fair
KIEV, May 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s parliament-appointed acting President and speaker of the national parliament Oleksandr Turchynov said on Sunday the presidential polls were “open and transparent.”
“The voting was free, there were no artificial restrictions and administrative pressure,” he said in a statement posted on the official website of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament).
Parliament-appointed Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk also said the elections were fair. “We must wait the official results, but it is absolutely obvious that Ukrainian have made their choice,” he said at Yulia Tymoshenko’s election headquarters. He gave to understand that he had not yet congratulated Petro Poroshenko who, according to exit polls, had won the elections with more than 55% of the vote.
