May 25 /ITAR-TASS/. The Italian Foreign Ministry has confirmed the death of Italian photographer Andy Rocchelli outside the Ukrainian city of Sloviansk (Donetsk region) on Sunday.

“The Foreign Ministry has been informed by the Ukrainian authorities of the death of Italian journalist Andrea Rocchelli who was in the area of Sloviansk. The identification of the body that was transported with the body of a killed Russian to a hospital on Andreyevka settlement is needed for the final confirmation,” the ministry said in a statement. The Italian embassy in Kiev will be engaged in the transportation of Rochelli’s body to his native country,” it said.

Rocchelli, 30, was specializing in the “trouble spots” of the world He has made photo reports from Afghanistan, Libya and Algeria.

On Saturday, a number of local media reported that Rocchelli together with his French colleague and translator came under fire in the south of Sloviansk that was surrounded by Ukrainian military.
